NEW ARRIVAL🔥 Hiratake Kinshi
Hiratake Kinshi:
It is a type of Kinshi produced by Pleurotus ostreatus fungus. Particularly suitable for Dorcus, and Prosopocoilus can also feed on it. Feeding beetle Kinshi ensures they grow healthily and maintain top-notch quality for a long time.
- Optimum temperature: 64-77°F (18-25°C)
- When there are temperature fluctuations, mushrooms might grow easily. The mushrooms absorb nutrients from the Kinshi. It's recommended to remove them.
**This fungus doesn't thrive in hot weather.
Usage Tips:
- Use a spoon to dig a hole on the surface and insert the larvae or the head portion of the larvae; they will crawl in by themselves.
- After the larvae have burrowed in, you can add a little bit of the original medium to help the larvae adjust.
- When the larvae have consumed approximately 2/3 of the Kinshi, it's time to change to a new mushroom bottle. If the mushrooms turn yellow or black, or if there's a lot of yellow liquid coming out, it's time to change.
Things to aware:
- Please use it 2-3 days after the entire Kinshi turns white. Fresh Kinshi generates heat, it may be too hot for and causing stress to the larvae.
- Avoid changing mushroom varieties during the larvae growth period.
- Do not freeze it; you can storage in the refrigerator compartment tfor up to 4 months, but the quality may gradually decline.
- Allow the mushroom bottle to stabilize for 2-3 days after taking it out of the fridge before using, as the culture needs to reach room temperature.
To get a bigger beetle, here the things that you need to know!
When it comes to raising stag beetles, the Japanese are ahead of the game. They stumbled upon an interesting trick while observing stag beetle larvae in the wild. It seemed these little guys thrived on "wood that looked a lot like mushrooms." So, they decided to put some stag beetle larvae in jars where they cultivate mushrooms. What they discovered was mind-blowing! The beetles raised this way not only grew bigger but also spent less time as larvae. This marked the birth of the "mushroom method" for breeding beetles, and it quickly became the go-to approach.
What is "Kinshi" or "mushroom spawn"?
It's actually wood shavings generated from the fermentation process of shiitake mushroom cultivation. Feeding the beetle Kinshi ensures they grow healthily and maintain top-notch quality for a long time. These mushroom bottles are usually made by enthusiasts or beetle shops.
They save space, are environmentally friendly by reducing waste, and are easy to store, exchange, and monitor.
