Features: Heavy and powerful body with elongated mandibles, a favorite among many beginners.
Size: 30mm~115mm
Adult life time once active: 1~2 years
Larva to adult: Male: 10~12 months, Female: around 6 months
Behavior: Generally gentle temperament
Substrate and air temperature: 72-79°F (22-26°C)
Beetle food: Beetle jelly Difficulty: Suitable for beginners Rearing
Tips: It is best to keep them individually, both as adults and larvae.
**Please note, do not release them.
Beetle larvae go through 3 different stages: L1, L2, and L3. After the L3 stage, the larva undergoes pupation, transforming into an adult beetle! This is an L2 or L3 larva, which takes 10-12 months to become an adult beetle.
Larva rearing tips:
- Recommended to maintain controlled temperature and ventilation.
- Larvae generally do not respond well to food other than kawarate kinshi; it is advisable to use kawarate kinshi.
- Males start changing containers at 4-5 months, while females start building pupation chambers.
- Use heavy pressure fungus to prevent runaway.
